The Leftovers
I was taught as a child that leaving food on the plate is a sign of rudeness, but in some cultures it is a sign of appreciation or respect for those who cooked. I began to notice the amount of leftover food on tables while walking down the streets of Paris. I started documenting the plates left behind, leading to the creation of my series, The Leftovers. This series allowed me to document how people approach food and how they leave the tables after eating. Sometimes the left over food had bites ripped out of it, or sauces smeared across the plate like blood, almost making the plate look like a battlefield.
